About Andrew Ley

Well hello there!

Welcome to my website. I’m Andrew Ley, a graphic designer who creates branding, marketing and websites. I help small businesses stand out in their market and increase customer trust with creative, professional design.

The beginning

Growing up on a dairy farm in rural North Devon, my creative tendencies were clear from a young age – my mum was very thankful that a pad of blank paper and a few pens would shut me up for hours on end. True to form I studied design at both college and university.

Early career

After graduating in 2003, my first job was in local government, overhauling the communications and creating an online interactive mapping system for Mid Devon District Council.

My next move was to JAG Communications, then one of the largest independent mobile phone retailers in the UK. I was tasked with setting up and running an in-house design department providing marketing and design services to 120 stores, as well as providing merchandise for the owner’s British Touring Car team.

After getting married in 2007 I relocated to Cullompton, smack-bang between the cities of Taunton And Exeter, and a new role producing marketing, promotional and training materials for one of the UK’s most historic brands – the Royal Navy. During this time I worked on some seriously high-profile projects including the official logo for the Royal Marines 350th anniversary (as seen here, being modelled by Superman himself).

I was then invited to join the small marketing agency SMITHKIN BAKER. This role gave me the opportunity to produce branding, websites and marketing for some of the South West’s most recognised brands.

And that brings us to today

Now, through Andrew Ley Graphic Design, I can bring more than 15 years of professional experience to helping small businesses, like yours, achieve their goals and build their client base.

I’ve created distinctive, memorable branding and logo designs that have helped businesses stand out against their competition, and attract new customers.

The lettering, chalkboards and murals I create help establish a unique identity and make a memorable impact on your audience.

The modern functional websites I build are easy to navigate, work on desktop, tablet and mobile devices, and give visitors the information needed to turn them into buyers.

If you’re still reading, then there’s a very good chance that my services can help you. Get in touch now and let me know what you need.

Let’s get personal

Outside of graphic design I’m a keen baker, enjoying making many different kinds of bread. I’m a mediocre guitar player, an avid reader, and although I can’t stand running I can fast-walk a 5k in around 40 minutes.

I live with my wife and two children, a tortoise (called Tortoise), and a (geekily named) sourdough starter: The Divine Yeast Vah Rudoughnia.
